I never write reviews but if you are on the fence about trying this ball do it. I’m a long time Prov1x and ProV1 user and this is my new ball. I’m consistently longer off the driver and irons sometimes 10 yards. The flight is generally lower similar to the ’17 ProV1 which I was using before. The best thing about this ball is the feel off irons especially and the way it behaves in the wind. This ball wants to go straight. I agree with other users that the AVX ball is not super spinny on the greens like the X and V1 but will hold the green really good on short irons. I was sticking and stopping the ball on approaches but not spinning them back. Once you adjust to a little roll out on chips instead of flying and spinning it really is a great ball. I highly recommend this ball especially if you’d like a little extra distance and feel.

I typically play Velocity or NXT Tour S. I’m a 10.3 handicap. I expected the AVX to feel like ProV1’s but it didn’t. Felt a bit plastic and not as soft as the ProV1 or even NXT Tour S.I purchased for a trip to Ireland/Scotland to reduce ball hight in the wind. I couldn’t notice any discernible reduction in the height of my shots. That being said I did hit them straight and my putting was very solid on quick greens.A bit overpriced at $50 a dozen. Will probably stick to velocity and prior gen NXT Tour for the time being but all in all a quality golf ball.

For years of just being a once or twice yearly hacker, I didn’t care what ball I used and would often find bargains on the internet for recycled balls. Many were great and I liked a variety of the name brands. Now that I’m retired, however, I am playing more and more. Whereas I could not previously intelligently discuss feel off the club, great spin, softness, etc., I now can speak to those things and more and more grasp how different balls react and how they feel to hit them with all of my clubs. Having said all that, I now focus only on top quality balls. Don’t listen to those who say higher end balls are only for low handicappers or pros – nonsense!! Quality balls can help improve anyone’s game in a variety of ways. I love these TItleist balls and will keep buying them (and a couple of other similarly priced balls from competitors). Well worth the price. If you’re a higher handicapper like me and have a tough water shot coming up, maybe keep a couple scrub balls in the bag until you get it over the wet stuff – otherwise, use top quality and feel the difference!

My daughter is a Junior Golf World champion and she has been playing with the PROV1 since she was 7 years old. She is now 12. She has shot 4 hole-in-ones under her belt. She has a 1.6 Handicap and has an average swing speed of 95 mph with her Ping G LE Driver. Her best score ever on an 18 hole course from the ladies tee was 2 under par. These are remarkable and she could not have done it without the feel and spin of the Prov1 which she just loves. She is given balls for free from other brands for her to try. She tries one ball but she ends up giving them away to her friends. She has played Srixon, Bridgestone and Callaway. Also we have tested all these balls on our Flightscope and Skytrak Golf simulators to find the best ball just like we test golf clubs to find the best clubs for her.She played in a Major Junior Golf Championship yesterday against boys and girls, and she shot her best score of 7 under par in one round. She shot 2 eagles and 3 Birdies. She said that since she was using shorter clubs to get the same spin and distance as her Prov1, she was able to get the ball closer to the Pin on her approach shots, leading to several one-putts. On some shots, she used the same club but since it goes further, she just swung it with more control and let it roll a little more to get up the tiered greens.PROS:1. Softer feel on the course- You can really hear and feel the difference. The Prov1 has a distinct click when you hit it, this one has the sound similar to hitting a Callaway Supersoft. It is very quiet off the face.2. Softer feel from the putter – It is very similar to the Prov1 off the putter face in terms of control, but there is a slight reduction of force at impact. She loves how it feels from the putter but just as good as the Prov1.3. Lower spin across all clubs – On the Skytrak, we could see a dramatic reduction of her Drive backspin. Since she is playing with the Ladies Ping G LE driver which is supposed to be high launching with slightly more spin, the Prov1 can spin an average of 3800 RPM. With the AVX, her driver backspin average is now 2700 RPM. Sometimes it goes down to 2100, but the Average is 2700 RPM.4. Lower Launch Angle – Her driver launch angle would go from 15-18 degrees with the Prov1. With the AVX it now launches at her ideal launch angle of 12-13 degrees. Giving her about 28 yards more on the average on the Skytrak. The amount of reduction of the launch angle goes down as the clubs get shorter. so you won’t notice any difference at all when you get to the wedges.5. Greater distance – So we are noticing a 10% increase in distance with her driver, but as I said, it goes down as the clubs get shorter. So for example When she hits a 6 iron with her Prov1, it will have the same distance and amount of backspin if she hits the AVX with her 7 iron. So now, she can use her shorter, more accurate clubs to get the same distance and spin as the longer club. People are worried about their irons when buying the AVX because it has less spin than the Prov1. But what they did not consider is that you can use a shorter more accurate club to get the same distance and spin like what she notices on the course and on the Skytrak Simulator.6. Beautiful in yellow – We both loves how it looks in yellow. Finally, they came out with a yellow premium ball. It is easier to see the ball in flight.CONS:1. NOT FOR slow swing speeds – I swing my driver 80 mph on a good day. I do not launch it high enough or spin it enough to keep the ball in the air. I lost about 15 yards from my average drive. I will stick to the Prov1. My daughter can have the AVX.SUMMARY:I think these balls are meant to be used by players with higher swing speeds, more of you have a very high launch angle and spin. This will give you a penetrating drive if that is your goal. This is the ideal ball for people with High swing speeds that want to lower their launch angle a little and bring down their backspin. This will give them more distance and less spin. This will allow them to use a shorter, more accurate club to get the same distance as the longer club. Her 2 Eagles and 3 birdies are a testament to the improvement in her game.

Ordered these after reading the other reviews. Thought I would chime in and say I agree with this being one of the best. It definitely goes farther than the prov1 and seems softer. Not sure how they did it. First round I played it was going about 10 yards further and on a couple of chip shots the ball checked up. I was very impressed all around. I do agree that the price is high and when I lost one I think I searched way longer then I should have. The only downside besides the price is the ball is not durable. At the end of 18 holes the cover was cut in a couple of spots.

This ball has replaced my ProV1s. It’s longer and has the same or better feel around the green with no noticeable difference on the green. I started playing in a Senior league this summer and decided to try a sleeve back in July. The difference is definitely noticeable. An extra 10+ yards off the tee, same great feel around the green as the ProV but less spin has to be taken in to account. Not much spin back for me but you can certainly stop them. Now my go to ball.I’m 63, 24 handicap, and an 85mph swing speed for reference. (Handicap is coming down btw π )
