The tool is nicely weighted and sturdy. When you switch to a club it feels many times lighter. Good for strengthening/stretching the required muscles and warming up. Due to the weight and flex of this training aid it prevents attempts to manipulate the swing. When you go through the transition at the top, one of the most critical parts of the swing, the weighted head stays still owing to the shaft flex. This gives the desired feeling of lag where most of the power comes from. At the finish the same factors pull you through to a full swing. I used it at the range to build strength and flexibility. I normally swang a couple clubs to warmup/stretch; this does a much better job.

just opened the box and found the grip looks weird….

I have been using a shorter (40″) version of this swing trainer for years and while that one worked well, this longer one really is a game changer especially for hitting your drives. After swinging the trainer several times, your driver will feel like a feather. Also, the length of the shaft really increases your turn motion. Anyway, I love mine and use it before every round (and sometimes mid way through the round).

I own an Orange Whip and purchased the Balight version as a gift and had a chance to compare the two. There are a few slight differences. The Balight is slightly longer at 48″ vs the Orange Whip’s 47″. I found the Balight to feel a little lighter when holding both, but not by much. And the Balight is slightly less flexible than the Orange Whip, but again it’s not a noticeable difference when swinging them. The main difference is the counterweight. The Orange Whip has a counterweight that the Balight does not. This gives the Orange Whip a more balanced feel while holding it. While holding the Balight at address, you can feel that you are having to “pull” on the club more to keep the “club head” end off the ground. Conclusion: The Balight is a good value and a great alternative to the Orange Whip. For what most people will use it for, which would be a few swings to warm up and find a good tempo before a round, the Balight is just fine. And for the money, you can’t beat it. If you want to do more actual swing training and use several times a week, I think the counterweight of the Orange Whip would be very beneficial and I would lean towards spending the extra money for it for more frequent use.

I have been golfing for about 3 months. For a while I was going to the driving range about 3 to 5 evenings a week. My time availability had shifted some and I have not been to the range in over 2 weeks. Instead I had been practicing with this swing trainer at home for 2 dozen reps virtually every night.Today I returned to my local training facility. Took a few chops with the trainer and then took out my clubs. The difference was dramatic. My distance has improved slightly but more notably was the decline I had in my slice. This translated to a much better game with my driver, hybrids and my irons. I still suck at my short game but that isnβt what this trainer is for. This was money well spent.

A pro suggested I try a device to strengthen my golf muscles. This has made a difference resulting in more accurate golf shots. I believe my distance has also improved by 5 to 10 yards.

Use it to loosen up before a round and work on tempo

I tried to replace the ladies size grip and found that there was not a regular shaft under the grip, so I asked the seller how to replace the grip with a man-sized grip and they sent me a new product which stated that it had a grip set up for oversize/grip/control. But when it arrived it was the same ladies size grip. I will try to work with it, but wonder if the manufacturer doesn’t speak English, or does care, or what? Very disappointed with this poor customer relations effort.
