This mat is actually the second Ruckett product I have, and am equally pleased to use. A very considerate daughter and son-in-law gave me a Ruckett multi-purpose hitting net for Christmas, which has been a great training aid for everything from a driver to a wedge. In an effort to save the grass in my backyard while hitting into the net, I did considerable research into mats from which I could hit any club in my bag, and settled on the Ruckett three level mat. I have not been disappointed in my choice. The three levels of “grass” are supposed to replicate a fairway, fringe, and rough on a course. The fairway portion provides a pretty tight lie and is shorter than the greens on some courses I’ve played. The middle length is what I use the most; it is thick enough to hold up a ball, but thin enough to allow a club head to pass partially below the ball. The “rough” is so dense that a ball sits firmly atop it; we should all be so lucky to get lies like these in the rough on the course. However, the density of this part of the mat works perfectly to hold a tee of any length for practicing tee shots with woods or irons. Just need to use a slightly shorter tee than you would on dirt. The tee pops out unbroken ready for the next shot. Since I don’t leave the mat out full time, I appreciate how it folds three times to facilitate carrying and storage. The mat is plenty heavy to stay in place, even with my five year old grandson’s exuberant swing of his cut down wedge or four wood. I have been fully pleased with both Ruckett products, and recommend them without reservation to other golfers who want the convenience of hitting real golf balls without loading up and going to the range. While I am fortunate to have weather that allows me to use mine outdoors year round, both products should work fine indoors if you have the space and ceiling height to swing a club inside.

Buy this! It does the job! Pays for itself in driving range fees that you won’t need as much anymore. An unintended feature of this mat is that when striking balls on the tall grass part it will leave plastic strands stuck to the bottom of your club. It comes off with a minimal rubbing with your finger. But the importance of that is it gives you a visual of where your club face is open or closed when you strike the ball. In other words if the plastic strands are perpendicular to the club face you’re striking the ball properly. If the strands are at an angle to the club face then you need to make adjustments to your swing/grip, etc..I bought the larger size which probably only has one betterment versus the smaller size and that is when you hit the mat hard it shifts a little. The smaller size mat would probably shift a lot more.I’ve hit thousands of shots from this mat and it is showing very little signs of wear. I leave it out in the elements all year long. The mat has 3 levels of grass emulation. The shortest would be compared to a putting green. I’m not sure what good that is but it’s there anyway. The mat might be better served with just two levels. Tall grass and the tall cushioned fairway cut mat.It comes with Tees. They work great.Unless you have 40 acres, an endless supply of shag balls and just love picking up golf balls you need some kind of net to stop your balls.I bought a net that I suspend from some hooks I screwed into the eve fascia board on the back of my house to catch the balls. I bought the Dynamax Sports #18 Standard High Impact Golf Barrier Net 10′ x 10′. An unintended benefit of the net is that it is treated with a tar type substance probably to add mass and to weather protect it. The tar stuff stains the golf balls leaving them dark brown. How that benefits is the stain on the balls leaves an imprint on your club face which gives you an idea about where you’re striking the ball relative to the club face. High-Low-Left-Right. Once again the stain stuff comes right off with a little soap or solvent. I leave the net out in year round weather also without any noticeable wear. It stops balls very well for me.

Iβve been using this mat for months now and itβs very well constructed and perfect for high volume swings. I use it indoor and outdoor and itβs a great size for travel as well. If youβre looking for a quality mat at a good price, you canβt go wrong with this one.

Rukeyser golf hitting mat is definitely helping my game. I like that I can hit off three different surfaces that mimic different course conditions. The mat is also very durable.

Arrived well packed and as expected. Very durable base, sturdy construction. Only had a few practice swings so far but I’m really looking forward to putting in some time on it
